Join us on this tour of the stunning Somiedo Natural Park, a park that was declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 2000. This park is also one of the first protected natural areas in Asturias since 1988 and one of the best preserved in the north of the peninsula. With its 29,164 hectares, Somiedo Natural Park offers a unique environment, perfectly representing the ethnographic culture of the Asturian mountains.

Our journey will begin by heading to the Alto de la Farrapona mountain pass. Along the way, we’ll immerse ourselves in the wild beauty of the rocky mountains and pass through an area with several viewpoints for bear watching.Once at Alto de Farrapona, we will start a hike to explore Lake La Cueva, where we’ll be rewarded with spectacular views surrounded by mountains.Later, we’ll head to the Veigas to visit the Somiedo Ecomuseum. Here, we’ll learn more about traditional trades, transhumance, and the famous "teito" huts, which are typical of the area’s housing and have vegetal roofs.

We will also visit Pola de Somiedo, the capital of the council and right in the heart of the park. You’ll love this Asturian village, which has remained hidden among the mountains since the 13th century and is located by the Somiedo River. Here, we’ll stroll through its cobblestone streets and visit the 18th-century San Pedro parish church before having some free time to enjoy lunch and local cuisine. Finally, we’ll head to the village of La Pera, located 1,200 meters above sea level. It was once an old "braña vaqueira de alzada" (a high mountain pasture), where transhumant herders lived with their animals during the spring, summer, and fall seasons, before descending to lower-altitude villages for the winter. In La Pera, we’ll also visit the Mirador del Príncipe, where we’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the valley.

Come and immerse yourself in the pure nature of Somiedo Natural Park! This is the perfect journey for nature lovers, hikers, and wildlife enthusiasts.
